DaVita Dialysis Atlantic

DaVita Dialysis Atlantic is a 9,200-square-foot OSHPD 3 medical office building located at 1090 Atlantic Avenue in Long Beach. Kier + Wright provided civil design, land surveying and mapping to support the planning and construction of the development.

Before the construction of the project, the property was comprised of five separate parcels occupied by aging, underutilized and fire-damaged structures. To consolidate the property for development as a single site, Kier + Wright prepared a boundary survey, lot merger and a record of survey map.

The 0.5-acre development is located in a dense urban area near St. Mary Medical Center. Two exterior walls and the foundation from a pre-existing office building at the northwestern corner of the property are incorporated into the design of the new medical office building. By preserving a substantial portion of the original structure along the street frontages, the developer maximized the square footage available for the new facility and on-site parking.

Kier + Wright’s scope included design of grading and drainage, demolition, site utilities and a low impact development plan that uses biofiltration planters at the north and south of the site to treat stormwater. Kier + Wright also designed off-site frontage improvements along Atlantic Avenue.

The redevelopment project progressed through a streamlined planning and permitting process and was constructed in just eight months. All mapping, design and construction administration services were provided on an accelerated timeline, helping keep the overall project on schedule.
