Market Street Towers

An inimitable project in the downtown San Jose skyline, the Market Street Towers is a Class A office and commercial building located across the street from the Plaza de Cesar Chavez. Although the building will look like 4 separate towers from the outside, this will be one building standing 19 stories tall with ground level retail spaces and 6 levels of parking. Two of the 4 ‘towers’ will have sky gardens on their rooftops creating outdoor green spaces for the office tenants to enjoy. K+W integrated stormwater treatment systems into the sky gardens and utilized mechanical filters to treat portions of the stormwater on the ground level. With designs from the architect and landscape architect, the collected stormwater will be discharged at specific planters throughout the outdoor patios. K+W facilitated a collaborative effort with many of the neighboring property owners for the relocation of the parking spaces that this building will take the place of. To meet the city requirements of a transit-oriented corridor, K+W met with VTA to incorporate the city’s future street design plans into the overall design of the property maximizing the use of public transportation and minimizing the walking distance to these locations. A public drop off for ride share was also integrated into the project to promote green transportation. The Market Street Towers are transforming the once plain parking lot into an interactive hub for the expanding city.
