Merritt Trace Elementary

After an arson fire destroyed 16 classrooms, the school library and offices at Merritt Trace Elementary School, the San Jose Unified School District selected a team of consultants to prepare plans for the reconstruction of the portion of the campus that was damaged. Kier + Wright was selected to provide all topographic surveying and civil engineering services for the reconstruction project.

To complete construction of the new building before the upcoming school year, this design-build project progressed on an accelerated timeline, requiring expedited DSA submittal, review and approvals.

The new two-story, 28,000-square-foot building includes 18 classrooms, a library and a computer lab.

Kier + Wright services provided during the project include topographic surveying, grading and drainage design, preparation of a utility plan, preparation of a stormwater pollution prevention plan, and construction staking.
