Santa Clara Data Center Campus
Santa Clara Data Center Campus
This Vantage Data Center's mission-critical, 20-acre site development in Santa Clara, California, emphasizes the future of digital infrastructure in the heart of Silicon Valley. This ambitious project involves the construction of six stand-alone data centers adjacent to NVIDIA’s new award-winning headquarters, creating a state-of-the-art technology hub on Northwestern Parkway and Walsh Avenue. Over the course of a decade, the multi-phase development ultimately provides 335,000 sqft of data center space with unparalleled reliability, sustainability, and cutting-edge technology. Each of the five phases of development has been meticulously planned and executed, overcoming the absence of a unified master plan by employing innovative, site-specific designs that maximize footprint efficiency and ensure seamless integration across the campus.
One of the standout features of this development is the emphasis on sustainable infrastructure, including the use of bioswales and treatment ponds for stormwater management. This Low Impact Development (LID) approach not only addresses environmental concerns but also sets a new standard for sustainable urban development. Despite the challenges posed by existing infrastructure and numerous easements along the Central Expressway, the project team successfully designed a sophisticated water treatment system that integrates with the site's unique requirements. With three 50MW dedicated substations, the facility delivers a robust 77MW of critical load, supporting varied redundancies and high-density data modules. Achieving LEED Platinum certification, Vantage’s Santa Clara Data Center Campus is an example of the changing expectations of how these critical technology facilities will seamlessly blend into the urban fabric, with a growing emphasis on resiliency in both site and building design.
