Rod Stewart is K+W’s Newest Associate
K+W Announces Rod Stewart’s Promotion to Associate
In recognition of his of his long-term dedication to Kier + Wright, his embodiment of our core values and his extraordinary accomplishments and contributions to the firm, Rod Stewart ll, PLS, has been named Associate.
“The fact that K+W has walked with me through my growing pains and to allow me to be here has helped me take flight and hopefully do the same for others,” says Rod.
Rod began his career at K+W in 1998 when he was just 17 years old, when he started coming to work with his dad as a volunteer intern. Rod started as a field surveyor and believes that if you put in the work, treat your fellow employees with respect and enjoy what you do, you can make a great career at K+W.
“I started as an apprentice in the field and now here I am getting promoted,” says Rod. “At K+W, there’s no limit of where you can go.”
Even after his 23 years with the company, Rod believes that K+W still has all its core values and is only changing for the better.
"We've changed in the sense that we've grown quite a bit, but in terms of our core values, we've only refined and improved them."
Working at K+W has been the one rock that Rod can always come back to. He believes that one of the most important things you can do in a company is to enjoy working with your fellow employees.
“At K+W we all work with each other and for each other and want it to succeed,” says Rod.
For those fortunate enough to work alongside Rod, they say he is very passionate and knowledgeable. Joe Thompson, PLS, Vice President and Principal at K+W, believes that Rod is a well-rounded technical expert in construction staking and mapping and has a wealth of historical knowledge of K+W projects.
“Rod has a very desirable work ethic,” says Joe. “You can really tell he cares.”
But what inspires Rod to go above and beyond - what makes him so passionate at what he does?
“Back in the day, someone took the time to help train me and was patient with me. I feel like I owe that to everyone else,” says Rod. “I want to share everything I’ve learned, and I love seeing the lightbulb come on when someone learns something I’ve taught them.”
Ryan Amaya, PLS, Vice President and Principal at K+W, has been working directly with Rod for six years and describes him as organized, confident, and disciplined. He believes that Rod is a staple at K+W and that without him, the company would look very different.
“Rod is someone that is always there for you,” says Ryan. “He always makes himself available to his teammates, the leadership and our clients, and no matter how busy he is, he will do what needs to be done.”
Rod’s 23 years of K+W experience has given him the opportunity to grow into the employee he is today. He is thankful for everyone who has helped him throughout the years and wants to give back to fellow employees looking to follow in his footsteps.
“My advice is to be better than you were the day before but don’t ever compare yourself to anyone else,” says Rod. “If you don’t know something, you can’t get down on yourself for not knowing it. You should always continue to learn and always want to gain more experience.”
K+W is fortunate to have an employee that represents our core values and embodies the spirit of the company. Rod’s promotion marks Kier + Wright’s continued success and growth as the result of our employees’ steadfastness to provide our clients with the quicker and better results they have come to expect from the K+W team. We hope that you will join us in congratulating and celebrating Rod.
